Economic awareness of nurses: relationship to budgetary control
1Division of Nursing, New York University, NY, USA.
Abstract:
Cost savings, a goal in most health care settings, could be achieved by strategies leading to greater economic awareness. Nurse manager participation in budgeting, staff nurse awareness, and costs relative to linen and supply use were evaluated in this study. Staff who are aware of and use information about the relationship between their clinical behavior and cost savings could make a major impact on the financial health of their units.
