Summary

Thyroid autoimmunity is linked to higher lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) levels in men and postmenopausal women, but not premenopausal women, suggesting estrogen may play a protective role. This association persists even in euthyroid individuals with autoimmune thyroid disease.
