Cystostomy drainage: its efficacy in preventing residual urine and infection
The Journal of Urology
|September 1, 1977
Abstract:
Residual urine volume was measured in patients with cystostomy drainage by injecting phenolsulfonphthalein in saline solution through the tube. Subsequent drainage yielded an average volume of 25 ml. residual urine. The cause for the presence of residual urine and its consequences--promotion of infection--are discussed.
