[Effect of hypothalamic differentation on the functional state of the hypohyseal-adrenal system]
Abstract:
It was shown in experiments on rats that the hypothalamus, isolated from the afferent influences of the overlying structures of the brain, could maintain the ACTH-glucocorticoid secretion at the normal level, but under these conditions there was an increase of its sensitivity to noradrenaline and serotonin, and also to single immobilization; there was also a reduction of the adrenocorticotropic activity of the adenohypophysis and a reduction of the rate of corticosteroid secretion by the adrenal glands into the blood.
