Summary

A young man experienced sudden severe headache and loss of consciousness, initially suspected as arteriovenous malformation. Diagnosis revealed primary leptomeningeal melanoma, a rare and aggressive brain tumor.

A 25-year-old male presented with sudden severe headache and loss of consciousness.
Initial cranial computed tomography suggested arteriovenous malformation.
Open biopsy confirmed malignant melanoma, leading to radiotherapy.

Findings:

Autopsy confirmed the diagnosis of primary leptomeningeal melanoma.
The patient succumbed to bronchopneumonia approximately 7 months after initial diagnosis.

Implications:

This case highlights the diagnostic challenges of rare central nervous system tumors.
