Abstract:
The authors describe the history of a 16-year old Caucasian girl suffering from trichotillomania and trichophagia. The chronically swallowed hair and nail piece formed an enormous trichobesoair which nearly filled the whole stomach. The besoir could be removed only by surgical management. The possible causes of besoir formation, the diagnostic and therapeutic problems are discussed.
