[Vestibulology of 20th century: methodology of reflex or methodology of functional systems?]

Methodologically, vestibulology rests on reflex theory. According to the authors, further progress in the study of physiological functions of the vestibular apparatus and design of new clinical methods is feasible provided due consideration is given to principles of functional systems theory, physiological activity and automatic theory.
