[Growth factors--particular aspects of insulin-like growth factors]

Growth factors have been discovered in the second half of the century. The insulin-like growth factor family consists of two members with the same effects as those intrinsic to insulin, but also with some very specific and important trophic effects on tissue culture experiments.
