[Treatment of eventrations with a special apparatus]

A new method of treating eventrations has been designed. It is based on the use of a special device that enforces the abdominal wall by connecting the wound edges. Besides, a plastic sponge impregnated with an antiseptic substance should be used for local treatment of the wound and for prevention of the external damage of the intestines. The method was successfully used in 8 patients. The advantages of the method are the following: safe closure of the abdominal wall wound, opportunity of performing complete surgical treatment of the wound, step-by-step connection of the wound edges, improvement of lung function. The rate of mortality is 12.5%.
