Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the efficacy and safety of divalproex sodium (DVPX) as a prophylactic monotherapy for migraine patients.

  • A multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
  • Patients received placebo during a 4-week baseline, then were randomized to DVPX (500, 1000, or 1500 mg daily) or placebo for 12 weeks.
