    • Contact burns from hot objects were readily apparent.
    • Burns from hot liquids revealed body position through depth, configuration, and distribution analysis.
    • Analysis of burn patterns and spared areas (e.g., flexion creases) aids in assessing caretaker history veracity.

    Implications:

    • Burn pattern analysis provides objective evidence in suspected child abuse cases.
    • This diagnostic tool enhances the accuracy of identifying child battery.
    • Forensic pediatricians can utilize these criteria to better evaluate burn injuries in children.
