Summary

Multiple gastric leiomyosarcomas, a rare condition, were diagnosed in a 40-year-old female. Surgical removal led to an uneventful recovery, with the patient remaining symptom-free for nine months.

Background:

  • Leiomyosarcoma is the second most common non-epithelial malignant gastric tumor, typically presenting as a solitary lesion.
  • Multiple gastric leiomyosarcomas are exceptionally rare, with only three prior reported cases in medical literature.

Observation:

  • A 40-year-old female presented with epigastric pain, nausea, diarrhea, weight loss, and melena.
  • Diagnostic evaluation revealed multiple gastric lesions, confirmed intraoperatively as 11 submucosal or subserosal leiomyosarcomas ranging from 0.5 to 6 cm.
  • Metastases were identified in regional lymph nodes along the gastric curvatures, but not in distant organs.

Findings:

  • Histological examination confirmed leiomyosarcoma in all 11 gastric lesions.
  • The patient underwent total gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y esophagojejunostomy.
