Lunar influence on atrial fibrillation?
1Institute of Preventive and Clinical Medicine, Bratislava, Slovakia. mikuleky@upkm.sanet.sk
Summary
This study suggests that infradian rhythms, like circaseptan (5-9 day) rhythms, may be linked to lunar cycles. Atrial fibrillation attacks showed patterns correlating with synodic and tropic lunar cycles and their harmonics.
Area of Science:
- Chronobiology
- Human Physiology
- Astrophysics
Background:
- Circadian and circannual rhythms are well-established biological periodicities.
- The origins of infradian rhythms, such as circaseptan (5-9 day) rhythms, remain less understood.
- Lunar cycles are hypothesized as a potential environmental influence on biological rhythms.
