Summary

Intravenous rifabutin demonstrated bactericidal activity in experimental pneumococcal meningitis, showing dose-dependent efficacy. It may serve as a reserve antibiotic, especially for infections caused by beta-lactam resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae.
