Automatic stapling devices in gastrointestinal surgery

Abstract:
After a short historical review about the development of automatic stapling devices, information about clinical experiences with the 'Autosuture' instruments is given. On 50 transections with everted suture line and 43 anastomoses produced by means of the TA and GIA instruments, one complication was seen. These stapling devices are an important gain in gastrointestinal surgery.
