[The temperature regimens for transurethral thermotherapy in treating benign prostatic hyperplasia]
Abstract:
Transurethral microwave thermotherapy (Prostalund unit made by Lund Instruments) was given to 49 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. The prostate was heated transurethrally for 60 min. Only one procedure was performed. Temperature regimens were different: prostatic tissue was heated to 50 degrees C, 55 degrees C and 60 degrees C (14, 17 and 18 patients, respectively). The response assessed 6 months after the treatment was the best in the group on the highest temperature regimen.
