Summary

This study introduces reticulocyte hemoglobin (retHb) as a novel measure of red blood cell production. RetHb and the red blood cell hemoglobin to reticulocyte hemoglobin ratio (rbcHb/retHb) can assess red blood cell survival and monitor anemia therapies.
