Summary

Maternal immunization to Gov system platelet antigens can occur during pregnancy, leading to neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia. This study identifies three cases of maternal alloimmunization to Gov(a) or Gov(b) antigens.

Background:

Observation:

  • Three unrelated patients presented with alloimmunization to Gov(a) or Gov(b) antigens.
  • Two patients were investigated due to NAIT in their offspring, with maternal serum revealing Gov(b) and Gov(a) specific antibodies.
  • A third patient with idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura had antibodies to Gov(b) and HPA-5b, likely from pregnancy-related immunization.

Findings:

  • Maternal serum analysis confirmed the presence of alloantibodies against Gov(b) and Gov(a) in the studied patients.
