[Internet--a new informational and communication environment for medicine]

Availability of information and easy communication in a global network have made today's internet a prerequisite for scientific work and research in many disciplines. Internet has also become an important tool in many fields of applied science. The article presents examples how Internet influences development of medical science and practice: types of information available are presented, as well as some possibilities how the communication and information environment of the global Internet can be used for medicine.
