Summary

High CD40 expression on gingival fibroblasts correlates with increased secretion of inflammatory cytokines like IL-6 and IL-8. Activating CD40 further up-regulates this cytokine release, suggesting a key role for CD40 in fibroblast-mediated inflammation.
