[Ketotifen, a selective histamine liberator]

    Summary

    Ketotifen selectively releases histamine from rat mast cells, but this process is blocked when cellular energy (ATP) is depleted or at low temperatures. This suggests energy is required for ketotifen to trigger histamine release.
