Abstract:
Eighteen patients (age range, 28 to 62 years; median, 58) with carcinomatous meningitis defined clinically (100%) and neuroradiographically (39%) with negative CSF cytology were evaluated with CSF biochemical markers. In only four patients (22%), CSF biochemical markers corroborated a diagnosis of carcinomatous meningitis.
