Summary
Mupirocin ointment applied to the catheter exit site significantly reduced Staphylococcus aureus (SA) exit-site infections and peritonitis in peritoneal dialysis patients. This intervention may improve long-term survival for patients undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD).

Background:
