Summary

This study explored how Captain's Log, a cognitive training system, affected children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Success in training correlated with better skill generalization in these children.

Background:

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) significantly impacts children's behavior and performance.
Computerized cognitive-training systems offer potential interventions for neurodevelopmental disorders.

Observation:

The study involved 4 children (ages 7-11) with severe emotional disturbances and ADHD.
Intervention utilized Captain's Log, a computerized cognitive-training system, over 16 weeks (64 sessions).
Behavioral, electroencephalographic, and cognitive performance measures were assessed pre- and post-intervention.

Findings:

Children who showed greater success with the Captain's Log training exhibited enhanced generalization of targeted cognitive skills.
Improvements were measured via computer task progression, behavioral points, and pre/post assessment changes.
