Summary

Smokers undergoing surgery for spontaneous pneumothorax frequently have respiratory bronchiolitis (RB), a lung condition characterized by pigmented macrophages. This study found RB in 88.6% of patients, suggesting a link between smoking-related lung changes and pneumothorax.
