The care programme approach: the experiences and views of carers
1Leeds Community and Mental Health Services NHS Trust.
Abstract:
Integral to the care programme approach is the involvement of carers in the planning of after-care and treatment post-discharge of people with mental health problems. That is the theory. In practice, carers still feel excluded and ignored by mental health professionals, as a qualitative survey in one inner city area revealed. In the first of two linked papers on the CPA, CHARLOTTE ALLEN reports from the carer's perspective.
