Summary

Prostatic embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma is a rare and aggressive cancer in adults. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment with surgery and chemotherapy are crucial for improving outcomes in this uncommon prostate cancer.

Background:

  • Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the prostate is an exceptionally rare malignancy in adults.
  • This aggressive tumor presents unique diagnostic and therapeutic challenges.

Observation:

  • Two adult cases of prostatic embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma are presented, both with disseminated disease at diagnosis.
  • Chemotherapy was administered to both patients.

Findings:

  • One patient achieved a 60% tumor volume reduction with chemotherapy, followed by rescue surgery, and remains alive at 3 years despite recurrence.
  • The second patient did not respond to chemotherapy and refused further intervention, leading to loss to follow-up.

Implications:

  • Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in adults is an aggressive, rapidly progressing cancer.
