Area of Science:

  • Urology
  • Pediatric Oncology
  • Nephrology

Background:

  • Nephroblastoma (Wilms' tumor) is typically a pediatric malignancy.
  • Cystic partially differentiated nephroblastoma is a rare variant, infrequently diagnosed in adults.

Observation:

  • A 21-year-old female presented with multicystic renal lesions.
  • The patient underwent partial nephrectomy of the right kidney's lower pole.

Findings:

  • Histopathological examination revealed embryonal blastema within cyst septae, confirming cystic partially differentiated nephroblastoma.
  • This subtype is considered a well-differentiated variant of nephroblastoma.

Implications:

  • Cystic partially differentiated nephroblastoma exhibits benign characteristics.
