    Summary

    Intraaortic balloon pump (IABP) use in cardiac surgery significantly improves survival, especially for high-risk patients. Prophylactic IABP is indicated for acute coronary insufficiency, left main coronary artery occlusion, and low ejection fraction, with EVR < 0.70 suggesting its use.
