Insights
Rabdosia amethystoieds (Benth.) Hara contains compounds that modulate immune cell activity. Some fractions promote lymphocyte proliferation, while others show dose-dependent stimulatory or inhibitory effects.
Area of Science:
- Immunopharmology
- Plant-derived immunomodulators
Context:
- The study investigates the immunomodulatory potential of Rabdosia amethystoieds (Benth.) Hara, a plant with traditional medicinal uses.
- Understanding the specific immune-modulating components of medicinal plants is crucial for developing new therapeutic agents.
Purpose:
- To identify and characterize the immunocompetent components within Rabdosia amethystoieds (Benth.) Hara.
- To evaluate the in vitro effects of plant extracts on lymphocyte proliferation.
Summary:
- Spleen cells from mice were stimulated with concanavalin A (ConA) and lymphocyte proliferation was assessed using the MTT assay.
- Different fractions of Rabdosia amethystoieds (Benth.) Hara (FA, FC, FB, FD) exhibited varied effects on lymphocyte proliferation.
- Fractions FB-1 and FB-2 promoted proliferation, while FB-3 and FB-4 demonstrated inhibitory effects at certain concentrations.
Impact:
- This research identifies specific fractions of Rabdosia amethystoieds (Benth.) Hara with immunomodulatory properties.
- The findings contribute to the scientific understanding of plant-based immunomodulators and their potential applications in medicine.
Objective:
To search for immunocompetent position in Rabdosia amethystoieds (Benth.) Hara.
Methods:
Spleen cells of mice were stimulated by mitogen concannvalin A (ConA), and proliferation of lymphocytes were measured with tetrazolium salts (MTT) in vitro. With such immunopharmacological experiment, immunocompetent position of Rabdosia amethystoieds (Benth.) Hara directively were separated.
Results:
FA and FC could promote proliferation, but FB and FD had stimulative and inhibitory effect respectively at different concentration. FB-1 and FB-2 had promotive effect but FB-3 and FB-4 had suppressive effect mainly.
Conclusion:
There are immunocomponents in Rabdosia amethystoieds (Benth.) Hara.
