Sus antecedentes:

  • La prediabetes, o hiperglucemia intermedia, significa niveles elevados de glucosa en sangre por debajo de los umbrales diabéticos.
  • Afecta a una población mundial sustancial y en crecimiento, que se prevé supere los 470 millones para 2030.
  • La prediabetes se caracteriza por una resistencia a la insulina subyacente y una disfunción de las células beta, que precede a los cambios detectables en la glucosa.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Para revisar la comprensión actual de la prediabetes.
  • Para resaltar los riesgos asociados a la salud y las estrategias de estratificación de riesgos potenciales.
  • Hacer hincapié en los enfoques de prevención y gestión basados en la evidencia.

Principales métodos:

  • Revisión de la evidencia observacional que vincula la prediabetes con varias complicaciones.
