Transfusion-transmitted virus (TTV) in Brazil. Preliminary report

Background:

• TT virus (TTV) is a recently identified DNA virus.
• TTV was initially discovered in a post-transfusion hepatitis case of unknown origin.

• To investigate the presence and genotypes of TTV in patients with chronic liver diseases in Brazil.
• To compare TTV prevalence in two distinct geographical regions of Brazil: São Paulo (Southeast) and Pará (North).
