Abstract:
In order to get for the first time, well founded and representative data on the actual level of the infection rate in acute hospitals, in 1988, the German Hospital Federation (DKG) asked Infratest-Public Health Research, Munich, to conduct a research project on the "identification and analysis of hospital acquired infections." The survey revealed that the infection rate in acute hospitals ranged between 5.7 and 6.3%. Below are the results of the final report.
