Abstract:
Biomedical research is an area fraught with contentious issues. This article will attempt to explore some of those issues. Society's needs and wants for research as well as the responsibilities of the investigator will be discussed. In addition, the various controls which the lessons of history have imposed on human research will be examined. Finally, a brief discussion with examples of unethical research will be presented.
