Necrotizing pneumococcal pneumonia in childhood.

Necrotizing pneumonia, a rare complication of invasive pneumococcal infection, occurred in three healthy children. Early signs included consolidation and effusions, progressing to lucencies and abscesses, but all patients recovered.
