[A nutrient medium for the isolation of staphylococci with persistence characteristics]
Abstract:
A new selective medium with fusidine for isolation of persistent staphylococci is developed and tried. The medium can be used for detecting the agent (staphylococcus) in mixed microflora in infectious diseases, in screenings for resident Staphylococcus carriership, in bioindication of air contamination, for predicting the course and for monitoring rational therapy of pyoinflammatory diseases in humans and animals in medicine and veterinary.
Insights
A novel fusidine-containing selective medium effectively isolates persistent staphylococci. This new medium aids in detecting staphylococci in mixed infections and monitoring treatment efficacy in humans and animals.
Area of Science:
- Microbiology
- Clinical Diagnostics
Background:
- Staphylococci are significant pathogens causing various infections.
- Isolation of persistent staphylococci from mixed microflora poses diagnostic challenges.
Purpose of the Study:
- To develop and evaluate a new selective medium for isolating persistent staphylococci.
- To assess the utility of the medium in clinical and environmental settings.
Main Methods:
- Development of a selective culture medium incorporating fusidine.
