Summary
Transperineal MRI-guided prostate biopsy successfully detected prostate cancer in a patient unsuitable for transrectal ultrasound biopsy. This novel technique offers a viable alternative for diagnosing prostate cancer.
Area of Science:
- Urology
- Radiology
- Oncology
Background:
- Prostate cancer diagnosis can be challenging in patients with contraindications for standard biopsy methods.
- Transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) guided biopsy is the conventional approach but not suitable for all patients.
