[Abulcassis, the grand master of Arabian surgery]

In the tenth century Abulcassis lived in the rich caliphate of Cordoba, where he wrote Tarsif, his masterpiece, which truly corresponded to an encyclopedia whose last volume was devoted to bringing up to date the art of surgery.
