Summary

Total thyroidectomy for multinodular goiter is safe, with low rates of permanent hypocalcemia (2.2%) and recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis (0.5%). This surgical treatment has no mortality, making it a safe option when performed by experienced surgeons.
