Abstract:
Popliteal artery obstruction may occur following total knee replacement in cases of ankylosis with severe flexion contractures. Immediate recognition and documentation by arteriography is essential. Release of the musculofascial structures in the popliteal area with division of branches of the artery (without exposure of the joint or femur) may relieve the obstruction.
