Abstract:
The author analyzes a period which has been characterized by deep changes about medical thought and practice. Notwithstanding the strict Hippocratic view of practising medicine in Naples, John Brown's philosophy found large diffusion and roused a clash between traditionalists and those who accepted the new ideas. However, neapolitan brownism was uprooted by political features because personalities as Andria, Chiaverini Postiglione and Lanza tried to make an intercession between the different conceptions bringing new and original contributions.
