Arcanobacterium haemolyticum, a bacterium recently reclassified from Corynebacterium, can cause infections like pharyngitis and skin ulcers. Treatment guidelines are lacking, but penicillin and erythromycin are often effective against this dual commensal and pathogenic organism.
