Background:

Cat scratch disease (CSD) is a bacterial infection caused by Bartonella henselae.
Ocular involvement in CSD can lead to significant visual impairment.
Understanding the clinical spectrum of CSD ocular manifestations is essential for timely diagnosis and management.

Observation:

A review of five serologically diagnosed CSD patients revealed varied clinical presentations.
Patients presented with ocular symptoms within two weeks of systemic symptom onset.
Common findings included neuroretinitis, papillitis, retinochoroidal exudates, and anterior uveitis.

Findings:

Neuroretinitis was the most frequent posterior segment finding, observed in 4 out of 5 patients.

Anterior uveitis and retinochoroidal exudates were also noted in affected eyes.

Systemic corticosteroids were administered to four patients, suggesting their role in managing inflammation.

Implications:

The study highlights the diverse ocular manifestations of CSD, emphasizing the need for ophthalmological evaluation in suspected cases.
Prompt recognition of CSD-related ocular findings can prevent vision loss.
Further research into optimal treatment strategies for CSD ocular complications is warranted.
