Abstract:
There is evidence for an association between oxidative stress and insulin resistance, possibly due to downregulation of insulin signaling. This review will address the hypothesis that exercise training and the antioxidant R-(+)-lipoic acid interact at the level of insulin signaling to enhance glucose transport in insulin-resistant skeletal muscle.
