Hyperpigmentation during interferon-alpha therapy for chronic hepatitis C virus infection

Hepatitis C patients on interferon therapy may develop skin and tongue hyperpigmentation. This side effect, linked to melanin deposits, is a newly reported finding in antiviral treatment.
