A novel pressure-controlled on-column injection method for microcolumn liquid chromatography was developed. This technique accurately regulates injection volume for analyzing anions in river water.
Area of Science:
- Analytical Chemistry
- Chromatography
Background:
- Microcolumn liquid chromatography requires precise sample introduction.
- Traditional injection methods can be challenging for microscale systems.
Purpose of the Study:
- To develop a pressure-controlled on-column injection system for microcolumn liquid chromatography.
- To enable accurate control of injection volume in microchromatography.
Main Methods:
- Assembled a system using a syringe pump, a Six-Way Micro Selection Valve, a separation column, and a UV detector.
- Regulated injection volume by adjusting applied pressure and sample loading time.
- Evaluated the system in ion-exchange mode.
Main Results:
- Demonstrated a method for pressure-controlled on-column injection.
- Successfully applied the system to determine anions in river-water samples.
- Injection volume was effectively regulated by pressure and/or loading time.
Conclusions:
- The developed pressure-controlled on-column injection method is effective for microcolumn liquid chromatography.
- This system offers precise control over injection volumes for analytical applications.
- The method is suitable for environmental water sample analysis.
