Summary

Echo-planar T2*-weighted MRI accurately detects acute thrombotic occlusion in the middle cerebral artery (MCA) or internal carotid artery (ICA). The susceptibility sign on these MRI sequences is a reliable indicator for prompt stroke diagnosis.
