Summary
Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease where interleukin-6 (IL-6) and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) indicate plaque vulnerability and risk for myocardial infarction. Targeting these inflammatory markers may prevent restenosis after procedures.
