Abstract:
In our cases, autologous chondrocyte transplantation was able to promote cartilage repair in vivo. Theoretically, after harvesting undifferentiated mesenchymal cells from the host, with chondrocytes - grown in tissue culture for approximately 14 to 21 days - and then re-implanted in defects in the articular surface. Widespread application of this technique for osteoarthritis should be encouraged after trials are complete.
