Abstract:
Nurse executives facilitate the success of unit managers through job design, control of organizational environment, and the selection and development of managers. This article reports the results of a descriptive study that assesses the responsibilities and activities of nursing unit managers in hospital and community health settings. This information may be used by nursing administrators when refining nursing unit manager roles within their agencies.
